Story
With my brother Gavin we are going to lead a large group of 24 people to complete a trekking challenge in the name of our brother Darren.
In November 2015 NEWSAR played a pivotal role in the search that took place to try and find Darren safe and well.
Shortly after Darren was reported missing Chris and his team took to the hills and the water working through the night and the following days; desperately trying to find Darren and bring him home safe and sound.....
As a keen walker and climber, Darren had the upmost respect for NEWSAR and the individuals that formed their team.
In January my family had the privilege of meeting the team during a training session, during the time we spent at NEWSAR we had the chance to talk to Chris (NEWSAR team leader) who was in control of the team during Darren's search. It was very clear that Chris was extremely proud of his team mates and what they achieve on a "shoe string" budget 365 days a year...
I now truly appreciate how much time, effort and dedication each team member sacrifices to become trained and ready to come to our rescue in the hour of need. Something before this event I had no regard for.
Although, Chris and his team couldn't bring us a positive outcome to the search that took place on the 9th of November as we tragically lost our brother. We will always be truly grateful for their efforts and it only seems fair as family we try and support them as they supported us.
