All October, I'm participating in Bountifield's World Food Day challenge to raise awareness about how they way we consume food affects our health and our planet. This month, I pledge to reduce my climate footprint by consuming a plant-based diet. My goal is to eliminate meat in my diet, reduce my diary consumption and eat a full vegan diet the last two weeks of October. I'm going on this journey to raise money in support of Bountifield, a international nonprofit that works to create more access to essential postharvest technologies and business resources for entrepreneurs and farmers, particularly women, in rural Africa.
