Story
On 20th December 2015, a group of 6 keen swimmers assembled at Charlton Lido's 50m outdoor pool to swim a classic set of 100 x 100m off 2 minutes to get ourselves fitter and front-run the turkey over the festive period.
Sadly one of our group is no longer with us. During the Easter weekend in 2016 , Steve Wand was fatally injured while out training on his bike and the world lost one of the fittest athletes of his age group. He is survived by his wife Janice and 2 children.
On the 16th December 2017, a group of 40 passionate open water and masters swim enthusiasts from all over the UK will join forces to replicate the 100 x 100m swim in Steve's memory raising money for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust. We swim for ourselves, for charity and, most importantly, for Steve's memory.
This is the 2nd year we have run the event. The lanes have been hired from 11am-3pm at Charlton Lido on 16th December and comprise of 2 solo lanes (doing the entire 100 on their own) and 2 relay lanes (sharing across a group). Good luck with your training and massive THANK YOU to Janice for giving us the green light to run the event again. I look forward to seeing you all on what will be a magical occasion again.
