Story
On the 16th July Steve will be completing his first full Iron Man which consists of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) run, raced in that order and without a break.
You may think him a little crazy but this is another amazing challenge he is completing to help the Lily Foundation support families affected by mitochondrial disease and find a cure - all in memory of Jacob Wright who lost his fight aged 16 months. This cruel debilitating condition took so much from Jacob, It primarily affected his brain, killing his brain cells , taking away his ability to hold up his own head, hold his toys, his laugh, his smile and ultimately his life.
Every 20 minutes a child is born who will develop symptoms by the age of 16 - in addition young adults and adults can develop symptoms later in life. Seizures, strokes, blindness, hearing loss and reduced mobility are just some of the symptoms. Yet there are very few treatments and no cure.
Steve is pushing himself to stop it taking precious lives - the amazing DrS and reasearchers are getting closer but not close enough - and by supporting Steve with a small donation we will get there faster.
For Jacob and all those affected please help Steve make a difference
Thank you
