Welcome to my fundraising page.
I'm a fully-certified amateur at this cycling lark - so what better task to undertake than a 340 mile cycling trek from Bristol to Lands End.I'll be going with
Paul Galea and we intend to camp along the way, so we'll be taking tents, tools, spare parts and camping gear with us. So that'll add some much-needed extra weight.
I chose Tearfund since I saw some of their projects last year in Rwanda.
Some facts:* we catch a train to Bristol, then spend the next 9 days doing the cycle to Lands End - see a couple of sights - then catch the train back from Penzance
* we've carved a path up and down the riverbank between Kingston and Staines over the last countless weekends in preparation
* even so, we're worried by the prospect of each day getting into that saddle to cycle for over 34 miles
* until 2 months ago, the last time I regularly cycled was 10 years ago
* ..and that wasn't on roads with traffic!
* the bike I'm using is borrowed!!
we had to clean it up and make it a goodun again
* Paul has started a
blog to record how us two fat chuffers get on
* East Africa is facing a food crisis which Tearfund is helping relieve
How to donate:
If you are able to make a donation, no matter how small, I would be grateful as it will all help.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. You do not need a Justgiving account to make an online payment. If you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Your donation will not only help Tearfund, but will also help spur those legs of mine when we hit those Cornish hills!
