Event: Doddie Cup 500, from 12 February 2022 to 12 March 2022
Participants: Rob Wainwright (former Scotland Rugby captain & British Lions), Mark Beaumont (round the world record-breaking cyclist), OJ Borg (Radio 2 DJ, presenter), Jon Shubert (GCN presenter, World record holder 100 miles), Rus Kelsey (ultra-cyclist)
At 10am on 10th February 2022, over 100 cyclists will leave BT Murrayfield Stadium with the match ball for the Doddie Weir Cup. Their aim will be to get to the Principality Stadium, in Cardiff, in time for the KO of the Wales v Scotland match.

Story

My Name'5 Doddie Foundation was set up in response to Doddie Weir (former Scotland and British Lions rugby player) developing Motor Neurone Disease (MND). This foundation has ploughed £6.5m into MND research in the last 4 years, and we hope that a breakthrough in treatment will be just round the corner, in time for Doddie, and to help the countless future victims of MND.

The cause is personal for me having treated one of my own patients for Motor Neurone Disease, who has sadly now passed away. I will never forget her resilience.

The (slightly crazy) concept of cycling 500 miles in 48 hours to deliver the match ball for the start of the 6-nations began a few years back and I have been involved twice before. However this is the first time I will ride all the miles and I'm a little nervous! I'm also very excited to be in a team with some seriously impressive people. I would really love it if you could support me by donating generously and know that 100% of your donation goes to this fantastic cause.
