Story
I am doing this years Great North Run in memory of my Mum who suffered from it from when I was child aged about 8. She died in 1993, and I have always wanted to give something back to those that supported her during the time that she became debilitated by the illness. She was born and grew up in South Shields not far from The Nook. A lot of our family still live in that area and I know that they will be lining the route to cheer us on. I am also doing this in memory of my Uncle who died late last year. That last mile will be highly emotional for me not only as my family will be there, but it takes me back to my childhood, and my Mum who used to work at Marsden Grotto. So there will be no better person to get me to the finish line than my running partner Clare, who puts up with such a lot.
