Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I came along Martha's story by chance but this has touched me, i got in contact with Kidney Research UK as i wanted to do something to help, I have decided that on October 5th 2008 i will enter the Bupa Great north run in Newcastle. I will hopfully be running the half marathon to help raise funds to help research kidney disease. This is where i need your help.
Have a read of Martha's story below.
With her big smile and infectious laugh, Martha Stringer looks like any other happy-go-lucky 3 year old from Marple, near Stockport. Yet behind all of this, Martha is suffering from FSGS, one of the many diseases that affects kidney function.
Martha has less than 5 years until her kidneys fail completely and will then face the rest of her life on dialysis. Transplantation is the other reatment option but as Martha is missing an important gene, there is only a 30% chance that a transplant would be successful. Through all of this, Martha’s spirit has been a true inspiration to everyone around her. The campaign has been set up to promote awareness and raise funds for Kidney Research UK to help find a cure for Martha and others like her; to give them the hope of a better future.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Kidney Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
