Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I had the privilege to complete the Rapha Manchester to London ride for Ambitious about Autism back in 2017. I say privilege now but it was a tough day. It took me just shy of 18 hours to cover those 220 miles but I did it and with the help of many of you reading this, raised a massive sum for Ambitious about Autism. It's a bit nuts to ride a quarter of the way across the UK in one go but I want to do it again on August 31st.
So much of what motivated me the first time is as important as ever. Our son Percy has Autism Spectrum Disorder and we live with challenges and rewards of that neuro-diversity. We're getting better at managing many of those challenges as a family but as we've learned more about Percy's needs, we have realised how important it is to promote and support the life-changing work that organisations like Ambitious about Autism do.
All of the money raised by those participating in the ride to Manchester help Ambitious about Autism provide specialist education services. Specialist education that can be hard to find for many families who live with ASD. I've been lucky enough to get to know the organisation over the last couple of years and meeting those who've benefited from its support is truly inspirational. And today, when so many obstacles to neuro-diversity remain, we need Ambitious about Autism to continue to grow to help children like our son realise their potential.
I've been regularly cycling since the ride in 2017 and confident that I'll get through the route again this time around. It’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, all 220 miles of it, but England is a beautiful place to cycle through. The ride will be special but most importantly, we'll be pulling together for a cause that means more to me than just about anything. Please give what you can and know I'm very grateful for your support.
