Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My daughter was born in May 2020, at the age of 3 weeks old she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a genetic condition that causes thick sticky mucus to build up in her lungs and digestive system. There is no cure for this condition. However there are treatments and there are more and more treatments coming, now children with CF will live a happy and healthy long life. We have to visit the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children often, the CF team in the Royal are an amazing team who go above and beyond, not only for their patients but also for the family. Helping Hand works closely with the CF unit in the Royal, they help fund toys, iPads etc for the sick children that need to stay.
I’m currently a student studying at SERC Bangor, and I’m working alongside the Students Union to raise money for this wonderful charity. We are challenging people to join myself and the SU officers to walk, run or cycle 65 Miles through the month of May raise some money and get fit whilst you’re at it. Quite often children find it hard to pronounce the name of their condition and when they say it, it often comes out as “65 Roses” this is why we want you to try and get in 65 Miles for CF.
At the end of May on the 27th students and staff at SERC will also be holding a Wear Yellow Day, this day is often done by the CF Trust in June but with the academic calendar we have decided to do this at the end of May, we invite you all to wear something yellow for the day, be that a T-shirt, or even just a hair band
Thank you for reading my story and I hope you’ll consider joining our events and making a small donation, every donation small or large will go a long way to helping.
