Story

Hi

Thank you for taking the time to visit the page.

My name is steven Holloway, I am a sufferer of LEMS (Lambert Eatons Myasthenic Syndrome- a rare form of Myasthenial Gravis).  To describe the condition is quite difficult but I will try  Even when I am medicated, my legs and arms can go floppy, my eyes cannot focus and swallowing can be affected onj bad days.  with no medication these symptoms are far worse - I can be in a position where I am unable to rollover in bed at night. (these problems for me though, are for more severe in a lot of other MG sufferers so I have added links at the bottom of the page for you to be able to see the extent of the help Medication, and support can help the individual so much in "getting back on their feet".

From being a martial artist training 5 - 7 nights a week, I suffered greatly when I developed this ilness.  going from fitness to couch potato in the space of a day was very frustraiting and annoying for me.. let alone upsetting.

I have decided now that I will combat the condition and challenge myself to a mountain walk.  So I am setting the scene in Cader Idris.

In June this year (2012) I am going to climb Mount Cader idris to its summit.  This is in order to raise money for both the ME Association (as this can be just as debilitating as MG) abd the Miasthenia Gravis Association so that much needed funding can be put into a finding a cure, better medication (for those suffering LEMS, MG, CFS or ME.

As a result of my condition, I will need to do the climb in 6 stages over a period of 4 days (for those with no issues wioth walking it is a 3 - 4 hour round trip).

I would like for you to sponsor me to help children and adults alike who have far more severe symptoms than I do - to have a more fulfilling life and faster diagnosis.

to watch a small medical video for MG goto the following link wher eyou can also view other people suffering MG and LEMS alike.
