Story
This year I'm running the Great North Run and the Yorkshire Marathon (my first 😱) to raise money for Daft as a Brush.
I didn't know what Daft as a Brush did till my mum and dad got cancer.
They were poorly at the same time. Both had intensive treatment and surgery in 2020, and my dad again in 2023. They're doing ok now. They got tremendous support from Daft as a Brush. The charity provides transport between home and hospital to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Access to care is a very big deal if you can't get to the hospital yourself.
The charity does 60,000 journeys a year, funded entirely by donations and a legendary team of volunteers. The money I raise will help them continue their fantastic work.
Any contribution you can make would mean the world.
Thanks!
PS - The photos feature a Greggs peach melba, the greatest food item in the history of food and time. I will be eating one after the Great North Run and another after the Yorkshire Marathon. Problem: the Greggs peach melba is unavailable outside the North East of the UK, so I need to figure out how to get one to the finish line in York. After a long series of experiments I have ruled out the pocket of my running lycra. Suggestions welcome.
