Update 21st September 2009
I completed the 10K yesterday in 49:13 and have updated the site with some photographs from the event.
I'd like to thank everyone who supported me for their kindness and generousity in raising this money for Dyslexia Scotland.
The web page will be active for another few weeks and if any of you out there want to donate to this good cause you can still do so through this site.
Thanks again to everyone,
Steven
On 20th September I will be running in the Kilmacolm 10K to raise money for Dyslexia Scotland.
Although I do not suffer from the learning disability myself, it is something that has impacated a number of my family members lives. My eleven year old son was diagnosed with Dyslexia at the age of six and ever since has struggled with school work. My nephew, who is nineteen, was also diagnosed Dyslexic at an early age. In addition to this my seventy-six year old father in-law, who was left in the corner at school and branded lazy, is almost certainly Dyslexic too, but never formally diagnosed. I hope the money raised for Dyslexia Scotland will help to train additional learning support teachers and thus make life a whole lot easier for other young Dyslexics.
About the Charity:
Dyslexia Scotland is a registered charity with the primary aim of providing a resource for Dyslexic people in Scotland. With more funding and awareness, many young people could be diganosed at an early age and have help provided to enable them to reach their maximum achievement and not be labelled as 'Stupid' or 'Thick'. In recent years, the awareness of Dyslexia has improved immensely and is recognised much eariler during children's education. More can however be done to provide the support these children deserve.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
