Story
Zoё's Place is a registered Charity providing palliative, respite and end-of-life care to babies aged from birth to five years with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. This care is provided in a caring, safe, home-from-home environment in our hospice in Middlesbrough. We have no catchment area and provide this care completely free of charge for families throughout the UK. Without the help and support from the general public it would not be possible to open our doors to our babies and their families. Thank you for your support.
Myself and 9 friends will attempt to walk Hadrian's Wall coast to coast in 3 days over the 1st, 2nd & 3rd of July. We will be carrying all supplies and equipment for camping 2 nights.
The walk is in memory of my daughter Ivy Benton who sadly passed away aged 3 years old in October 2021. The money we raise will be going to Zoe's Place Baby Hospice Middlesbrough. They are the only respite for children and babies under 5 in the UK and are charity funded.
Ivy had a extremely rare condition, in fact she was only 1 of 4 known cases in the world. She was born with a abnormal brain structure and never really developed from birth. Her needs were complex and she needed constant 1 to 1 care. Ivy suffered from various conditions, including dystonia, epilepsy, severe developmental delay, which resulted in very little positive responses like smiling and she was also blind.
Ivy attended Zoe's place from 1 year old for over night stays. This gave my wife and myself time to breathe and focus on our son for 24hrs. Their staff are kind, thoughtful, understanding and simply amazing and helped my family survive when we faced our hardest times.
