Story
So our story
Me and Danny (my cousin) are taking part in the 10k Birmingham Festival Run on the 16th May in the hope to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. We are raising money in the memory of my Dad who tragically passed away on the 26th December 2020 at the young age of 52.
In the early hours of the 15th December my dad had a heart attack whilst he was at work. Although it was a major heart attack, dad had his stent fitted and was back home after two days in hospital. Dad was home with his family and although very shaken he was looking forward to what he saw as his second chance and was ready to take the next steps to recovery. Little did we know on the 24th of December our whole lives would change forever. Dads body had in essence rejected the stent causing his heart to stop on the morning of Christmas Eve as he lay in bed. Although the medical team did everything they possibly could and with dad fighting with all he had, on the evening of Boxing Day the decision was made that no more could be done. Dad peacefully passed away with me and mum by his side.
Dad was our world and his family was his. We now have to face a future without dad by our sides and that is terrifying. My Dad was the go to guy, he would do anything for anybody and brighten a room as he walked into it. He always made us feel safe, and with my mum they have provided me and my brother a platform to succeed. A larger than life character that would never take himself too seriously and would always know how to put a smile on your face. The pain we have gone through and are feeling is unbearable but I promised to continue my dads legacy, so that is where the run comes in. Me and Danny both aren’t runners but want to challenge ourselves in the hope to raise as much money as we can to try and help prevent this from happening to other family’s but also to run for the amazing man I was lucky and proud to call Dad and Danny called Uncle.
Any support, no matter how big or small would be hugely appreciated. It will all go a long way to help this charity which like so many has been affected by the pandemic.
Thank you,
Abbie and Danny

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
