Story
Paul Cooper (Coops) was unbelievably popular and sociable, and much loved by family and friends far and wide. When Paul was diagnosed with the horrific disease that is glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) in March 2019, we all rallied round him and supported him throughout his incredibly brave and heroic 22 month battle.
Paul has left a massive, unfillable, hole in so many lives. We want to do whatever we can to stop others suffering what Paul went through. This is why we have set up The Paul Cooper Fund within The Brain Tumour Charity.
On 4 September 2021, The Coops' Barmy Army FUNdraiser is being held at Lymm High School (where Paul went to school). We are hoping that we can harness the massive support of friends and family that carried Paul through his illness to raise funds for The Paul Cooper Fund.
We are asking as many of you as possible to crawl/walk/run around 1/5/10K and obtain sponsorship for doing so. To incentivise you all and add a competitive element, The Paul Cooper Cup will be awarded to the person that raises the most sponsorship money (as at midnight on Thursday 2 September, judges' decision is final!). It is an impressive piece of silverware so well worth winning. The winner will get to keep it for around a year (and have their name engraved on it) as it’ll be awarded on an annual basis going forward.
All sponsorship monies will go to The Paul Cooper Fund and will fund, through The Brain Tumour Charity, much needed research into GBM. A cure really can’t wait.
