We make lifesaving connections to help more patients survive and thrive

Story

On the 3rd September 2012 I was admitted to Leicester Royal Infirmary to begin chemotherapy treatment, followed by a stem cell transplant after being diagnosed a week earlier with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, a type of Blood Cancer.

In January 2013 I recieved a stem cell transplant which saved my life, thanks to an anonymous donor being located on the list kept by Anthony Nolan.

Early in my treatment after a visit from a friend who had climbed Snowdon, I set myself a goal of reaching the summit when I recovered. I reached that goal on the 30th September 2013, just over 12 months after my admission to hospital. I've since reached the summit again in 2016.

Now, on the 10th anniversary of my admission to hospital, I plan to reach the summit once again, to celebrate 10 years of life I didn't expect to see, and to raise vital Funds for Anthony Nolan to continue their lifesaving work.

I'm not doing it alone and have a growing band of supporters who have been with me during my recovery and will be walking with me on the day. We will be walking the Llanberis path, a walk of aound 14Km (there and back) and a climb of 960m and expect to complete the round trip in around 6-7 hours.

Without the work that Anthony Nolan do, me and many others would not be alive today and I wouldn't be able to complete this challenge. Please help us to support Anthony Nolan register more donors and save more lives from Blood Cancer.

Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
