BRIGHTON MARATHON
April 12th
I have decided to run my 1st Marathon on behalf of The Alzheimer Society.
Alzheimer's Disease has affected members of my family and my friends’ family's lives past and present. It is something that is not easy to witness and is distressing for both the sufferer and loved ones.
1 in 3 people will end up with some form of dementia - so together let's try and raise money to prevent this from being our future.
The most alarming part is dementia is not an inevitable consequence of growing old, but is a disease like any other and could be cured with the development of the correct medication. As always this comes down to priority and funding, hence my request for your help.
The standard and cost of care for people with dementia in this country is horrific – and we are an ageing population so this problem has to be tackled head on.”
The knowledge of other sufferers is shared and genuine help afforded in various directions. As well as running quality care and support services, the charity funds research and campaigns for improved health and social care and a greater public understanding of dementia. Their vision is of a radically improved world for people and they work hard to ensure no one goes through the illness alone. They rely 100% on voluntary donations so every single pound counts and will help fund the charity's vital work.
Thank you so much for your support and wish me luck, think I might need it.
