Story
Help me to change lives by continuing to support me in my attempts to raise money on behalf of Ravenscliffe High School.
I'm very proud to be running for the school for the second consecutive year to help them raise money towards their on going Community Challenge project. This long term project will allow the school to equip the newly built centre to fully cater for their students and the community to engage in sporting activities. My friend and work colleague Stewart Richardson's son attends the school, and Stewart keeps me updated regarding the schools funding challenges and I have also kept in contact with the School since last years' fund raising event. The fund raising challenges are made all that more difficult as public and private finance remain tight in these continuing times of austerity. After last years' event, I decided that I would like to enter the Hardmoors 160 ultra marathon again to try to better my finish time and and to raise more money than last year for Ravenscliffe High School.
The Hardmoors 160 is a single stage 160 mile Ultra marathon linking the 48 mile Tabular Hills Route with 112 miles of the Cleveland Way. This years' event is being run in reverse due to the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race being held on the same weekend. All competitors will leave Sutton Bank Visitor Centre and run around the North Yorkshire Moors returning to Helmsley to finish the ultra marathon.
Competitors have 50 hours to complete the 160 mile run route, which incorporates 7000 metres of ascent, which can be likened to climbing Ben Nevis five times. To put the challenge into perspective, there were only 16 finishers out of 29 starters in last years' event and I have no doubt this ultra marathon will continue to be a challenge to all involved.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, I hope we can make a difference.
