Story
I survived! 3hrs 34 minutes and I loved most of them. It was an amazing experience, so good in fact that the first thing I did after going for a fry up was to enter for next year.
And if you are thinking whether or not to do it then definitely enter. If you're not thinking of doing it then start thinking.
And 2 bits of advice for you. Either run dressed in a Borat-style mankini, the crowd absolutely loved the bloke that did, or irrespective of your name get Steve written on the front of your vest.
I now know I have the most common name in the UK but while I doubt half of the shouts for 'Steve' were directed at me it bloody well helped.
The legs aren't going to work for a few days now, but with the amazing amount you have all helped me to raise it was so worth it, so thank you all once again. See you on the start line next year.
It is still not too late to sponsor me. I was running the Marathon to raise money for the Calvert Trust. This is a charity set up to provide activity holidays to disabled people and their families. Through 3 centres across the country (Exmoor, Keswick & Kielder) people are able to try out activities which some might consider only suitable for able bodied participants - Imagine abseiling or paragliding in a wheelchair!
More information regarding the Calvert Trust can be found by visiting their website, http://www.calvert-trust.org.uk/.
Many thanks for your support.
