I'd always had in mind to do the 190 mile Wainwright's Coast to Coast before I got much older and when I was made redundant last year I decided to go for it and planned the walk for this year starting on June 5th and hope to complete it in the 12 days In aid of Meningitis uk whose aim is to find a vaccine to erradicate all forms of Meningitis.

This disease strikes without warning and has no barriers, the victims are struck down by this disease without prior warning and from that point on it is a fight for survival because it can kill in under 4 hours.

Those that survive the worst form of the disease are often left with horrific disabilities, usually the loss of part of, whole of or more than one limb, as an amputee myself I know only to well what they will have to endure for the rest of their lives and the sooner a vaccine is discovered to stamp out this disease the better.

As a father and a grandad I want this disease eradicated so please support me in this cause.it would also help ease the pain from my blisters and encourage me in moments of weakness to press on.

I am Vice president of a STL Northern Football League side Norton & Stockton Ancients FC, where I did a bucket collection, in aid of Meningitis UK, at two of our recent home games against Stokesley FC and Ashington FC which yielded a sum of £103.00.
