“By 2020, almost one in two people will get cancer and it’s the
toughest fight most of us will ever face” Macmillan Cancer Support
During 2017, Cathy and I completed a set of challenges to raise money
to show our support to our brave and amazing friends and family members who are or have battled cancer. We are in awe of their determination and spirit and of all those we know affected by cancer.
If you’ve followed us over the year you’ll know about our wonderful
friend Pip and her fight against bowel cancer. It is with great sadness that Pip passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family just before Christmas, a day after her 36th birthday.
Pip had wanted to run the London Marathon last year but was not able to train and so Pip’s husband Phill and sister Georgie stepped up and ran the London Marathon. Pips courage and Phill and Georgie’s achievement inspired me to follow in their footsteps (literally!) and rise to the challenge of running the London Marathon next year.
I am raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support because they helped Pip and so many of those we know affected by cancer, providing support and advice at such a scary and difficult time for those with cancer and their families.
The perseverance and determination required to complete over 700km of training runs is
insignificant compared to what Pip and others battling cancer demonstrate. So please, please donate what you can so that
Macmillan can continue to provide their invaluable support and advice.
Thanks so much in advance
Steve
