Story
I am a sixty-one year old, overweight, middle-aged husband, father and grandfather, follower of Jesus, who loves playing cricket and watching Widnes Vikings.
I am also a Lay Minister (Reader) at St Paul's church in Widnes, which along with St John's church, forms Transform Widnes.
We are currently raising funds for the the internal re-order of the church building at St Pauls,
which we are calling: 'AMAZING SPACE'
The church has supported the local community and town for the last 134 years and we wish for that service to continue by creating a community hub within the church building.
When it reopens St Pauls could be home to:
- bigger parent and tots group
- parent and tots church
- a café area
- mental health support groups
- youth activities
- older folk groups
- a great venue space
and much, much more.
The total cost of the first phase of the redevelopment is £573,000 which is a HUGE amount and can seem overwhelming when you think about raising it. However, thanks to some generous church members and members of the local community, some well written funding applications and the generosity of God, we have so far raised £505,193!
That leaves just under £68,000 for us to raise in this 1st phase of the redevelopment. That may seem a lot but it's less than 12% of the total!!
My fundraising idea is for me to try and lose at least 20 pounds in weight between 22nd March 2021 and 31st May 2021.
My current weight is: 18st 4lbs (257lbs)
My target weight is: 16st 12lbs (237lbs) or less
Please, would you consider sponsoring me a £1 for every pound of weight I manage to lose, by the 31st May 2021?
If you feel that is too much, any amount would be most welcome
If I shed more than 20lbs, I am not expecting you to give further for those extra pounds of weight loss.
Please help me improve my health, extend my cricket playing days and at the same time raise funds for a very worthwhile project that will benefit many in the local community and the town.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and enjoy your Easter eggs, that's one thing I will miss.
God Bless
Steve
