Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page. I am raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking a short stroll from John o’Groats to Land’s End. Just to make it interesting, and because they are there, I will be climbing the three highest peaks on mainland Britain: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.
Just over five years ago I lost my dad to cancer. A keen cyclist and runner to the end, he has always been my inspiration to do ‘daft’ things. Having previously run marathons and ultra-marathons I have now decided to take things a little easier and enter the world of long distance walking. Starting on May 18th and finishing on July 21st I aim to walk around 1200 miles in total, covering around 20 miles per day.
Huge thanks go out to everyone at Newell Palmer and Ascot Lloyd for the support they have given me since I first floated the idea with them over three years ago. I would also like to thank my family, and in particular Sue, Rach and Mike for their support all along the way. Hopefully Sue does not regret the last few years of encouragement, as she will be joining me for around 500 miles of the route!
Cancer is a disease that will affect all of us in some way during our lives. With your generous donation I am hoping to be able to raise £10,000 for Macmillan, to give a little back to a charity that aims to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support.
Finally (and with a little help from my brother) I will be posting daily updates on my blog which can be found here: https://mistybooks.wordpress.com. You will also find details of the route, so you have no excuse not to try and track me down and join me for a few miles – the more the merrier!!
Thanks again.
Steve
