Story
This is for Ian.
Ian is a friend of ours. In May 2021, totally out of the blue, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It had already spread to his liver and lymph nodes. This naturally shocked and saddened his friends and family. Not long after the original diagnosis, the consultants gave him a prognosis of six to nine months on the basis that he undergo chemotherapy immediately. Shock quickly became devastation.
Ian is currently undergoing the chemotherapy, which is becoming a massive struggle for him. His friends are doing all they can to support him. Despite the gloominess of the situation, Ian is still able to crack a joke, and he hasn't lost his sharp wit and sense of humour.
Before we found out the news about Ian, the four of us (Steve, Jennie, Martin and Sean) were planning to run two events: Cheltenham 10K (5th Sept) and the Bristol Half (19th Sept). Now it seems only right that we should run for Ian and try to raise as much as we can for Macmillan. Macmillan were his first port-of-call during the original diagnosis and have been there for him since. They have also given support to friends who are struggling to cope with Ian's situation.
UPDATE: We now have THREE more runners in our team: Ibby, Clayton and Adam!
UPDATE: This team of runners is now being supported by Boogie Me, a local Oxfordshire band, who are going to be playing a fundraising gig on 12th September; proceeds will be added to the runners' total. Please see boogie-me.co.uk for more details!
We are hoping to raise £1,000 or more if we can for this amazing charity. Thank you for reading and any donation will be greatly received.
