The Royal Marines Charity CLIFF ASSAULT CHALLENGE. In 1990 the Royal Marines Association Poole Branch built a memorial on the Coastal Path at Emmets Hill near Worth Matravers. It was built to commemorate all ROYAL MARINES that were killed on active duty since 1945. Which is over 245 since 1948. A team of 8 of us will be conducting a Yomp/Cliff Assault, 246 times, over 2 days to remember former ROYAL MARINES who died on operations, with an extra ascent to honour those who have died from illness, injury and Suicide. The distance is 1200m each way and a height gain of 125m, by the end of the challenge we will have walked and climbed 30,750m (3.5 x higher than Mt Everest) and covered 295km respectively.
