Story
I met James, and his father,Tim when they stayed at Trenowth in Cornwall for holidays and special occasions. James especially loved Christmas and I remember his excitement at this time of year.
In October 2011, when James was 12 he died as a result of a brain tumour which he had battled for 5 years . Medulloblastoma, a form of brain tumour that though rare, is the commonest form of childhood cancer. Anyone who met James could not help but be touched by his maturity and bravery.
For this reason I have decided to raise money for the James Allen Brain Tumour Trust. The trust's objectives are to fund clinical research and patient support projects.
My event to raise money is to trek to Everest Base Camp a trek that will take 19 days starting from Lukla in the foothill of the Himalayas to Kala Patar above Base Camp 1.
We will be leaving the UK on 5th November to fly to Kathmandu. This trek is self funded so that any money raised will go to the trust.
We have a web site and will be keeping a daily log with photos of our trek (drektrek.co.uk).
I've set a target of £1000.00 to raise for the trust so a big thank you to all that give to this worthwhile cause.
I will be hanging a prayer flag on the summit of Kala Patar for James and taking a moment to remember and reflect.
Thank you
Steve
