Story
Along with 7 others on 03/10/2020, I am hiking 26 miles through the Lake District, taking in Ullswater through forests, woodlands and fells. This replaces the previously cancelled Brecon Beacons Hike. I am doing this to support Alzheimer’s. Two of our group, Warren Eastham and Sam Marshall, are directly affected as their parents, Lyn and Brian Eastham and David Marshall now suffer from this horrible condition.
In 2008 Warrens mother (Lynne) Evelyn Eastham sadly got the news that any family would dread confirming Alzheimer’s. On friday 14th Feb 2020 four weeks after his 80th birthday Warrens family got the devastating news that his father Brian has now got this disease!! Devastated is in an understatement as the family cope with both parents suffering from Alzheimer’s.
Sam’s father David is someone I know personally and is a well respected member of the community in Read village. David has been involved in village community life for as long as I can remember, having played cricket for Read for many years, and being a prominent and committed member of both committees of the village cricket and football clubs. then turning his hand to umpiring in the Ribblesdale league and beyond. David was also a football referee for many years and a supporter of junior football and cricket.
We all know someone who has been affected by this condition, so let's fight it together. Please help me to support Lyn Brian and David in this worthy cause.
