In recent months I have several more friends whose lives have changed dramatically due to cancer. My own mother and my wife’s mother lost their battles with cancer when we were both 17 – they were 45! In their prime!

These events, and the tenacity of my daughter(!) has got me off my backside, donning the running shoes to see if I can run 21km without needing the emergency services! I must admit that with every weeks training my 50+ years old knees tell me I must be insane – and there are times I’m tending to believe them….. However a good ice bath and a medicinal Guinness (or 2) seems to do the trick!
