Wirral CP Boxing Club faces the toughest fight in its thirty-four year history. The club has until December 2015 to raise £80,000 to purchase the property in which we are based in Ellesmere Port to avoid being made homeless, which could result in the club ceasing to exist.

The club is the most successful amateur boxing club in Wirral & Cheshire, producing numerous Area and National Champions, and Great Britain representatives. Some members have gone on to have distinguished professional careers, including former World Bantamweight Champion Paul Butler, who has acknowledged the huge part the club played in his development.

However, the club’s proudest achievement is the important role it performs within the local community, engaging with people of all ages, male and female, from a wide range of social, ethnic and religious backgrounds, by using boxing to promote fitness, respect, discipline, confidence, friendship and fair play.

So far the club has raised £60,000 through various fundraising events, which has included packing shopping in local supermarkets, abseiling down a lighthouse, running marathons, spending a weekend in a bath full of baked beans, and the gruelling 3 Peaks Challenge. The club has played a vital role in the lives of many people, both in and out of the ring, and we are determined to achieve our goal to secure our future so that we can continue to serve the community.
