Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In August 2015, my cousin, Richard Powell (on the left of the picture) sadly passed away. I am running the London Marathon in Richard's memory as he ran the London Marathon in 2009. In his last days, Richard was cared for by the amazing team at Guys & St Thomas’ Critical Care Unit and I am running to raise as much money as I possibly can to go some way of showing my support for the fantastic work that they do. Richard was 39yrs old when he passed away and I will be 39yrs old when I run in London.
I ran the Brighton Marathon in 2016 in Richard’s memory and both myself and Richard’s eldest daughter Lily are running in London in 2018. I raised £1,500 for charity in 2016 but I need to raise £2,500 to run in London so I ask you to dig deep to help the Critical Care Unit keep giving the fantastic care that it does.
I now know that running a marathon is not just a bit of training and then the race on the day, it is months of running early in the morning and late at night in the cold, wet and icy conditions; battling with colds, chest infections and sometimes injuries so I would ask you to think about the cause, the dedication it takes everyone that is running the marathon and give generously. My family, myself and the hospital really do appreciate it.
Powelly was a fantastic chap, a great dad, always the life and soul of any gathering and we all miss him every day. He was and still is, an inspiration to many people and I hope I can do him justice and make him proud.
Thank you to my wife for supporting me through this and thank you all for your support and generosity for a great cause-it means the world.
