Story
With the help of all my friends and family I am almost there with raising my pledge of £1600 to this amazing charity. The trimple 20 was a significant hurdle for me and im pleased to say I did it although found it hard going the last 2 miles with a few pains and niggles in my knees and hamstrings. I really need you help in these final 3 weeks to raise the remaining funds prior to me arriving on the start line...nerves are kicking in now. so please...any amount gratefully appreciated and donate to my just giving page.
Im overwhelmed with the donations from friends and family so far from whom I have raised £1295 alone. Thats 80% of my pledge to whizz kidz alone which I never thought I would get near without having to put on some of the events Ive got coming up. Im so grateful to you all for donations big and small and Im sure Whizz Kidz will be too. The training is getting really tough now the mileage is increasing and along with it are coming the injuries and aches and pains. Just back from physio where I was nearly in tears with the pain but hoping the phrase no pain no gain is true as Ive got some mahoosive runs over the next 5 weeks before tapering for the big day. Nerves kicking in now I heave realised the size of the task ahead!!!! So....just 20% to go to reach my pledge and hoping with the quizz night Im organising and gym events I will smash my target of £1600. Still a lot of you yet to donate so now its pay day and the end of the month Id be grareful of any donation to my just giving sight at www.justgiving.com/steve-hardman
ooppss meant to say completed my first half marathon in 1.58 rather than a 10k...it was still early at the time of writing lol
Blackpool half marathon completed on Sunday (23rd) in horrendous weather conditions. gale force winds made it hard going but pleased to say I finished my first 10k in 1.58 minutes. booked the trimpell 20 mile road race in 3 weeks time in Lancaster which will hopefully see me on schedule for my longest run prior to the marathon. Starting to feel the niggles in my legs and knees now so just hope they hold up.
well theres a severe weather warning for tomorrows half marathon in Blackpool...cant say that Im looking forward to running in gale force winds and driving rain but all good training for the marathon. Some amazing donations over the last few days but still a long way to go. for those yet to donate any amount is appreciated for this great cause. thanks
Thanks to the very generous donation from the wrights in the form of Freddies trike I am now 34% of the way there in my pledge to raise £1600 for Whizz Kidz running the London Marathon....I still have a long way to go and need your help. Any donation gratefully received so please donate whatever you can afford. training is going well although finding it tough now the miles are increasing. watch this space for details of my quizz night and hopefully some challenges at the Devere Hotel Blackpool.

I have decided to run for Whizz Kidz as my chosen charity for the work they do with disabled children across the UK, which can be something as simple as providing a child with a wheelchair.
Their aim is to ensure that every disabled child has an opportunity to be something special....a kid! There are an estimated 70,000 disabled children in the UK waiting for a wheelchair that fits their young lives. Whizz Kidz provides disabled children with the essential wheelchairs and other mobility equipment they need to lead fun and active childhoods.
I have been inspired to run for such a charity through a close friends son "Freddie" who suffered a stroke whilst at school (aged 5) following a bout of chicken pox which has left him with a disability.
Seeing the effect this has had not only on Freddie but his family has been unbelievable to put it mildly. We don't expect anything like this to happen to our children but this brings things home for me.
The equipment Freddie has needed in order to be an active child like his friends is extremely costly but as his mum told me "you just want your child to be able to ride a bike with their friends"
If I can achieve my sponsorship goal and help a child to be just that....a child then I will be extremely proud to have done so.
