Story
Sunday 5th October 2014 springs to mind easily, it was my middle daughter's birthday, and I was out early giving a talk about cancer at a conference in Leamington. I was deeply saddened to learn shortly afterwards it was also the day Trevor Davies, my French teacher at King Edwards passed away at only 61 from mesothelioma.
Trevor was a great teacher and sportsman, and deeply committed to his family and Christian faith. He was kind enough in my Sixth form in '92-94 to teach me AS Level French 1:1, on top of his own full timetable. A mark of a kind and modest man, who we all remember as smiling, approachable, and making us feel there was always time whatever was going on. He serves as a great example for his own boys, and all of us he taught in his 31 years at Aston.
Mesothelioma is an aggressive form of lung cancer, usually caused by exposure to asbestos. I will be joining Trevor's son Simon, and a group of Trevor's friends to cycle from Dieppe to Paris, to raise money for the excellent work Mesothelioma UK do in supporting people living with mesothelioma and their families.
Please consider donating via Just Giving to Mesothelioma UK, for anyone from Aston over the years through Simon Davies page or mine as you wish,
also thanks in advance to my friends, family, and work colleagues.
If the "Lanterne Rouge" made you smile, please donate!
To nearest and dearest, who will be wondering what to get for my 40th a week before Christmas, save the thinking later on in the year and please donate here instead.
Thanks All. Steve.
