I heard about the Dragon Ride through my children. It seemed a good challenge to do with them. However once I realised Macmillan Cancer Support were involved I decided it would also be a great opportunity to do something in memory of my Dad who passed away with prostate cancer in 1999.
Dad loved the great outdoors. I enjoyed walking trips with him, many to the Brecon Beacons. He was also a keen cyclist on his bright yellow Claud Butler. Looking back he seems ahead of his time cycling for transport, pleasure and fitness. He would love seeing how his grandchildren have taken to their bikes and the outdoor life.
As his cancer progressed his main wish was to spend his remaining time at home. This was only made possible with help from Macmillan nurses. As a family we will always be grateful to Macmillan for the care they gave to both him and my Mum.
So thanks for supporting my fundraising. Macmillan were a great support to my Dad and family at a very difficult time. Please give what you can to enable them to continue their essential work.
