Steve's 2900 Mile Challenge
Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support
Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been inspired by the challenges that many of my colleagues at work have completed in support of Macmillan. I also have strong personal desire to do something that will make a difference to so I’ve decided to undertake a personal challenge to raise money for Macmillan.
Over the last 12 months I have made some made some significant changes to the amount of exercise that I do; in particular I have taken up road cycling and have also completed two sprint triathlons. This training has seen me cover a fair few miles and I have often wondered how many…?
Every year 290000 people are diagnosed with cancer. I have decided to challenge myself to cover 1% of that number - 2900 miles - in the next twelve months - that equates to 56 miles every week for the next year!
I intend to do this through a combination of cycling, running, and swimming, cross training and skiing… in other words hard graft rather than simply wearing a pedometer every day!
My challenge will start on 1th July and to generate some initial interest, I’m going to cycle to work on Wednesday 10 July. Nothing special there you might say? However, I live in Northamptonshire, about 60 miles south as the crow flies!
I’d really appreciate your support and your donations however large or small. It will help keep me motivated during the year, especially in the winter (!) and will make a huge difference to others at their time of need.
