Well, after 9 great years flying helicopters for the YAA, it all comes to an end for me at the close of April 2014. I have decided that it is time to step down and let some other young gun have a chance of experiencing what is undoubtedly one of the most rewarding things you can do with a helicopter.
As my leaving date corresponds with the fifth annual Keep It Up fundraiser - "Pedal For Pounds 5" it was inevitable that I would have to get involved and hopefully make my last contribution to YAA something a little more tangible in the form of ££££££s.
So, despite the fact that I am 59 years old this summer, have not ridden a bike since I was about 13, and not taken part in any serious sporting endeavours or keep fit activities for about 30 years, I thought "How hard can it be?" and signed up!
After about 6 weeks of "training" you are welcome to ask my backside how hard it can be....
Anyway, that's it my friends. Any contribution, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated by myself and everybody associated with the K.I.U campaign. Especially myself, as, once I am gone, I would prefer to be remembered for my flying skills and contribution, however small, to YAA's life saving service over the last 9 years - not as that sad gimp who rode 250 miles for Charity but nobody actually bothered to sponsor!
It's in your hands....
