A marathon a day for 10 days? Sure why not.
On July 10th 2022 Steve will be running Britain's first national trail The Pennine Way. Starting in Edale, Derbyshire and ending 268 miles later in Kirk Yetholm just north of the Scottish border. Passing through the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, and Northumberland National Park, over the whole route Steve will climb 249 stiles, cross 204 bridges and open and close 287 gates before hoping to complete the trail in 10 days which equates to a marathon a day!
Steve is taking on this challenge to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK.
Someone is diagnosed with bowel cancer every 15 mins in the UK and it is our second biggest killer with an alarming amount of young people currently being diagnosed for reasons we don't yet understand.
Three years ago Steves high school friend Rosy was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer whilst 7 months pregnant with her first baby. Sadly for Rosy the cancer has subsequently spread to her liver and lungs and her cancer is now incurable, relying on new drugs or treatments to hopefully offer her as many years as possible with her son.
Bowel Cancer UK funds vital life saving research so important to people like Rosy, please donate anything you can to this great cause.
Luckily Steve has just moved to the Peaks so he's got a month left to finish his training in situ. Anyone who fancies joining him for a little jog along the way, he'd love to see some friendly faces.
Many thanks to Stephen's mum who will be driving the route with all his kit, providing essential moral support and plasters!
