Building a school in Africa

Young Life International - Pembrokeshire · 30 September 2013
Since 2012 Young Life International - Pembrokeshire has taken over 50 local young people to Africa to build either a school or an orphanage. This has been life changing, not just for the community we serve, but the young people themselves. This year (2017 trip) a group of10 of us are going from Pembrokeshire to be challenged and changed.
It costs each young person £1500 to go, every donation on this page will be equally divided amongst the whole group, who are also doing their own fund raising. If you want to know more about what Young Life International -Pembrokeshire looks like and does, visit www.yli-pembrokeshire.co.uk
Let's take a look at one young persons journey. This one joined Young life International to come to South Africa back in 2013, with the view of building an orphanage, (the journey started with fund raising in 2012) later that year they came to camp and made a decision to follow Christ. It would be great if that was the end of the journey and everyone lived happily ever after, it isn't! 2 different walks developed, one including breakfast Bible studies and challenges the other walk involving college mates and, wanting to be a friend to all, led to experimentation in the variety of things easily available to teenagers, i.e. alcohol, smoking and a few slightly more illicit products. In spite of this the connection stayed intact, and next camp he led a small group of young people and grew a bit more, then came again as service crew and this year leading a bunch of young people from another area - so the question is - Do I only work with sanctified, perfected, purified, shining examples of what Christianity could look like - No Chance!!! - we continually look at the potential of where young people can be and stretch them towards it, helping them become leaders and followers of Christ - and at worst, one step better than they were when we started!! - And it made a difference to this one!
When you give you are really partnering to make a difference to 100s of kids - starting with one - so a massive, massive, thank you!
