Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Any one of us could be a natural disaster, a failed relationship, a failed business deal, or a serious illness away from homelessness - we don't know other people's stories. Amateur filmmaker Lee Halpin died last week, just two days into a week-long project during which he slept rough in Newcastle to gain insight into the plight of the homeless.
Lee wanted to make his video 'Stepping Outside' after becoming concerned that cuts to services and legal aid would cause an increase in the number of homeless people. He is believed to have died of hypothermia, sleeping in a derelict hostel, on a night when temperatures reached -4C. His friends are hoping to complete his video and to raise funds for homeless charities. You can find out more about the documentary, and about Lee, at www.steppingoutsidefilm.wordpress.com or by clicking on the video link in my gallery.
I'm doing my bit to honour Lee's memory by running in The Belfast City Marathon to raise funds for CRISIS. You can do your bit, far less strenuously, by sponsoring me to do so.
