Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In memory of Ken.

Ken was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2013 when he was just 62. His circumstances led him to become a patient of a brilliant Consultant, Dr Mummery, at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, University College London Hospitals.

Everyone from Dr Mummery to receptionist and porters treated Ken with respect and dignity. He appreciated that very much and I will always be grateful for this.

When he found out that he could donate his brain to the Brain Bank at this hospital, there was no question in his mind. He wanted to donate his brain so that he could help research and so help other people.

It was typical of Ken - he always wanted to help other people and did so throughout his life. He particularly wanted to help Dr Mummery and others at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery with their research supported by The Brain Appeal.

So it seems appropriate to me, his wife Steph, that family, friends and acquaintances should have the opportunity to donate instead of giving flowers in his memory.

Thank you so much if you are able to donate. If you can’t afford it because of your circumstances, I understand. But if you can offer practical help to someone, now or in the future, then please do so in memory of Ken.

Thank you once again. Steph Williams
