I am running the Liverpool Marathon to raise as much money as I can for Claire House Children’s Hospice in memory of my brother and sister, Ryan & Molly Clark.

Ryan & Molly both faced many difficult challenges of their own.

Ryan was born on 15th May 1999 with undiagnosed developmental disorder. Molly followed soon after on 24th October 2000 and was born with the same condition.

Ryan & Molly could not communicate verbally and our family learnt to tell how they were feeling through body language and their different facial expressions. Both of them had very different personalities, Molly was very much a little girl who liked to have her hair brushed and be stroked, kissed and cuddled, Ryan on the other had was very much a boy turned teenager who liked to shout a lot when something wasn't to his liking and definitely didn't like being kissed although he did like the odd massage.

Both children spent many happy times at Claire House where my mum and her husband Paul felt comfortable enough to let someone else take over for a short period safe in the knowledge that they were cared for just as they were cared for when at home with them.

Molly passed away in hospital after a very short illness in December 2007.  During this time Ryan went to Claire House so the family could spend time with Molly secure in the knowledge that Ryan was safe and being well cared for.

Ryan became ill in October 2016 and my mum and Paul wanted to bring Ryan home from hospital so he could spend the time left at home in familiar surroundings with all of his family around him. They could not have done this without Claire House Hospice to Home team. They facilitated the transfer from hospital to home for palliative care and kept in constant contact. Towards the end they were there every step of the way with nursing care for Ryan and support for the whole family.

Every pound raised will help Claire House to always be there for families like us now and in the future.
