This page is in memory of Stephen (Steve) who sadly died on 27th January 2011 after a long struggle with Huntington's Disease (HD).
Steve became symptomatic around 18 years before he died. In that time the disease ravaged his very being by taking away his ability to do even the most basic things which we all take for granted such as walk, talk and even swallow.
Steve's spirit was never broken but he died when pneumonia attacked his already thin and weak body. He died aged 49.
Steve is at peace now but the disease goes on. As somone who witnessed first hand how cruel this disease can be it is only fitting that this JGPage be opened to help the Huntington's Disease Association, in however small a way.
Every child born to a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of inhertiting this devastating disease for which, as yet, there is little treatment and no cure. Steve leaves many relatives at risk of HD or in the throes of the disease.
