A year ago today (28th Sept) my sister was tragically taken from us by a heart attack at the age of 39. For 25 years Susan had courageously lived with an affliction called systemic Lupus (SLE), which is a chronic and presently incurable illness of the immune system.
Lupus is an autoimmune condition which means that it is caused by problems with the immune system. Rather than just fighting viruses, bacteria and infection by producing antibodies, your body starts to attack and destroy healthy cells, tissues and your vital organs.
On the 1st March 2020 I will be running the Eastbourne half marathon in Susan’s memory. My aim is to increase awareness of this condition but also to raise as much money as possible for the amazing Lupus UK charity. More on Lupus UK can be found on their website https://www.lupusuk.org.uk
