Fundraising for Alzheimer's Research UK
I'm going to complete 55 Miles in October because I'm passionate about funding Alzheimer's Research UK's vital research. Please support me today and help towards finding a cure for dementia.
My Uncle Tony was the epitome of what I'd call a man. He was strong with huge hands, as a stonemason he'd be carrying huge rocks all day. He was fit, he'd ride to work (uphill) and go to gym in the evening. He loved food and had a big appetite, wouldn't miss a meal. He was polite with a strong moral compass. He loved his music and we'd often duet in the car 😂 he loved banter and a soft ribbing. He loved his family and he loved "normality" .
That all changed for my uncle when he was diagnosed with Alzheimers before 50. Watching a role model, someone a young man could echo, someone who just seemed to glide along in life suddenly face such trauma was devestating. He battled, we all battled and I could not be prouder of the show of fight from Tony.
This cruel disease took him far too soon. We needed more armory to support his fight, others need that now and will do in the future. We do not know enough about this desease and we do not have the tools yet to start fixing it. We can all change that by supporting the research 😁
