Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, where i am running the 2017 London Marathon in aid of ORT.
For over 136 years, ORT has been educating people in the skills they need to gain employment and so support themselves, their families and their communities, breaking the cycle of poverty and charitable dependence. At the present time, over 300,000 students in 37 countries across the globe are educated by ORT every year.
In the UK funds will be provided for JUMP a mentoring programme for 6th forms to help bridge the gap between school and the workplace and to help them provide meaningful employment
In Israel, the Students at Risk programme assists underprivileged children to reach their full potential and give new hope for the future. The aim is:
• All students will be able to achieve their full potential;
• No student will suffer disadvantage simply because they live in a poorer area; and
• Every student will have the opportunity they need and deserve in order to succeed.
The selected students, who will be identified by the school principal as being in need of assistance, will receive vouchers in the form of magnetic cards from a large chain department store, enabling each of them to purchase items essential for their school life. This way they will not fall behind due to a loss of self-esteem for not having the basics such as equipment, school clothes or school bags.
In London we are privileged to have decent education, the opportunities to excel in one of the world's most affluent cities, and an amazing level of religious freedom. Please give generously to those who have been deprived of these gifts for generations.
