Story
I've done it! Ran the marathon today (25th April) in 4 hours 28 minutes (just 1 min longer than 2 years ago - but this time I ran all the way - every yard!). Many many thanks to you all who have given so generousely for our fantastic local Hospice. And there's still time to give..... - please see below.
Please give genereously in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. The Hospice does a fantastic job in caring for people with terminal illnesses, both in helping with symptom control as out-patients, advising their GPs and nurses, in-patient end-of-life care, and supporting their families in their bereavement. They offer holistic care, with attention to physical, psychological and spiritual needs. As a local GP I know how much their work is appreciated.
But the NHS only pays for 18% of their annual costs, and it costs £10,000 every day to do their job, despite the enthusiastic support of about 700 volunteers! This is an amazing and vital service, which really will benefit from your generosity.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate, and saves time and cuts costs for the charity.
I'll be very encouraged in my training and in the run itself if I know that you're supporting me, both with encouragement and generous donations. Thank you very much.
