The NHS is an organisation that is unparalleled to any other health Service in the world, it has supported my family through many troubled times.
As an active member of the Armed Forces within 13 Air Assault Support Regiment RLC, I am also a volunteer Assistant Group Scout Leader at 1st Thaxted - Carver Scout Group and also Assistant Group Scout Leader at 2nd Braintree Bocking Air Scouts Group.
I also do part time door supervisor work for Regency Security.
I have the utmost respect for those that are sacrificing thier time, skills and abilities to help us all pass through these challenging times.
In an attemp to express my gratitude to our wonderful NHS, I have decided to put myself through the agony of completing 42 marathons in 42 days by running, jogging and walking.
Due to social isolation directives that we must all adhere to, I will be completing these marathons in my back garden whilst still fulfilling my military duties.
I am not a natural born runner, nor am I the fittest person.... but I do have the determination to complete a task towards a great cause!!
I have run a couple of marathons in the past but I have never completed a challenge like this before.
Running the United Kingdom’s four nations is around 1110 miles.
I plan on running a marathon a day to reach my target, this will be achieved by running around in my 58 metre garden.
Which I will have to run around 728 times a day to make a marathon.
I will complete a lap and keep a eye on every lap with a clicker, whilst showing updates on videos.
All together to make the total of running/ jogging and walking 42 marathons around my 58 metre garden, I will have to run around my garden 30,576 times.
The final day on day 43, I have to complete 8.1 miles which comes to a further 228 laps of my garden.
Total laps to be completed - 30,803
I plan on running/ jogging and walking with this huge task in my back garden because this great country is tacking this horrible virus together and I would like to show that with this country being united, we can win by helping our NHS.
