Story
As a healthy, active 62-year old male, I typically never thought I’d fall ill, let alone be diagnosed with bowel cancer. But then I did. It all started when I had repeated tummy aches over a three week period. So, untypically, I decided to go see my GP. Just eight weeks later, yes only eight weeks, I was in the operating theatre at my local hospital, counting backwards from 100, I think I got to 97. Next minute, or so it seemed, I’m awake on the ward, trying to have a lucid conversation with Jess, my life saving surgeon. Intensive observation & convalescence followed at the hands of the NHS angels, who delivered me back home just three days later, a little bruised and a littler lighter, but extremely grateful. So it’s time to give back, that’s why I’ve joined the thousands of men & women who volunteer to help Bowel Cancer UK with their campaigns across the country to fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. They are here to stop people dying of bowel cancer. I’m here to help them achieve that goal and it’s why I’m raising funds throughout December and asking you to assist in achieving my goal. Any donation will be truly appreciated. Thanking you in anticipation, Steve 😊
