On the 21st of September 2012, I finally lost my dad after a six year battle with cancer, aged just 51. He wasn't just my dad, but he was my best mate aswell. An all round great bloke, he has been a massive loss to not just me, but to my mam, the rest of the family and to all that knew him.

It is the fight he showed throughout his illness, and the constant good humour he showed even in his final weeks and days that has inspired me to do something to help others in his situation, and the families of those affected by the disease.

On September 15th, almost a year to the day since my dads passing, i will be running the great north run in his memory. I have chosen to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, as without their kindness and helpfulness, the ordeal would have been a great deal harder for my dad, and even more so for my mam. 

Please, if you could take the time to donate, then you will be helping out a brilliant charity, and helping restore a quality of life to those who have had their worlds turned upside down.
