Story
In October 2019 my beautiful Mum (Susan Anne Martin) was diagnosed with a rare form of Bone Marrow Leukaemia. Early stages of Chemotherapy were going well in 2019. In 2020 after a Stem Cell Transplant in July the problems began.
She was diagnosed with global brain damage in early August as a result of Chemotherapy from the beginning of 2020. She was given a week to live or no chance of ever walking, talking and responding again. By some miracle she beat the odds to come around and was able to say small words and follow commands. She was doing so well.
Until November ..
She caught COVID in the hospital. Again she was given less than a week to live in the middle of November. She made it until the 20th of December 2020 despite numerous infections, problems, continual positive tests, end of life predictions and finally a negative COVID test.
My Mum - my strong, brave, courageous, beautiful and Super Woman Mum - fought day after day, hour after hour, minute after minute and second after second.
Her cause of death was sepsis.
She went through all of this with a beautiful smile on her face. She never complained, she never got upset, she wasn’t scared, she didn’t cry she was just so brave and I don’t know how she did that.
So...
In honour of my Mum and the strength that she showed and the fight she put up I am organising a charity football match. A match in a stadium for her Birthday in July. The game will be 11 v 11. A team picked and managed by me versus a team picked and managed by my brother. The game will be for my Mum and to raise funds and awareness for the charity Sepsis Research FEAT. If you would like to be involved on the day in any way or if you would like to donate any money to the charity I would be so grateful.
The players for the game will be by invite only from me and my Brother. But anyone will be more than welcome to come along on the day to watch, support and celebrate my Mum.
